Berachain operates a high-performance consensus model termed Proof-of-Liquidity (PoL), built atop the modular BeaconKit framework. This framework anchors an EVM-identical execution environment into a CometBGT consensus architecture. Instead of traditional Proof-of-Stake where validators secure the network by locking up native assets in an idle state, Berachain requires users to deposit eligible digital assets into dedicated on-chain reward vaults. While Berachain’s core consensus engine has prevented double-spend or base-layer state exploits since its February 2025 mainnet inception, the ecosystem remains operationally exposed to smart contract and liquidity pool integration risks. In November 2025, a rounding precision flaw in the underlying vault architecture of native AMM pools (BEX) allowed an attacker to manipulate LP token pricing invariants, putting approximately $12 million in pool liquidity at risk.
